Heidi Witherell Artist Bio:

I am a self-taught photographer who has spent the last several years exploring multiple ways of capturing nature within the camera. I spent my earlier years photographing traditional landscapes with emphasis on wide depth of field focus. I have redirected my focus towards the more abstract genres.  I want to create a sense of movement or depth with my photographs rather than have them depict a snapshot in a single point of time.  I use techniques such a long exposure, camera drag and zoom movement within a single frame to create images that give a sense of multidimensionality or time elapse to my images.  I am constantly striving to see subjects and landscapes in a different way, to ask the “what if” questions and to challenge my own sense of reality as well as the definition of what makes a good photograph.  Occasionally I use layering techniques in a single exposure within the camera rather than layering the images in post processing.   I want my viewers to ask themselves “I wonder how she did that?” or “wow, that is a different technique” rather than seeing a slightly different rendition of a common scene.

I print my work in two standard sizes: 17×22 on either Epson Lustre or Epson Metallic Glossy paper or larger format (up to 40×60) on traditional paper, acrylic di-bond, canvas or metallic.  Please contact me with custom inquiries . I also print certain images on double sided acrylic di-bond for display on a brushed stainless steel stand (ideal for viewing a piece of my work from both sides).  If you are interested in imagery for your web page I have several options.  I am grateful for your interest in my work.
